Who
are we?
In India, the idea of health food shops
has just now started taking root. There are only a half-dozen health-food
stores in the whole country. Eco-Nut takes
pride in being one of them. We are consistently trying to sell more
and more organically-grown food items.
What
do we want?
At Eco-Nut,
our motivation is a total approach to good health. Therefore, we not only
stock food items conducive to good health, but also, herbs, herb powders,
Siddha and Ayurvedic herb remedies and books related to health.
We further plan to create awareness and promote good health among the people.
With the blessings of our customers, we hope to achieve these objectives
very soon.
Where
are we?
Eco-Nut is
located in the high-hills of Kodaikanal, India, in the beautiful Palni
Hill country. Kodaikanal was founded by American missionaries in
the late 18th century.
Where
do we fit in?
The concept of health food originated in
the West over 25 years ago. Men and women concerned by the pollution
around them, and the dangers it caused to the environment, began to analyze
all modes of modern life. They realized that constant use of fertilizers
and pesticides in the cultivation of food products could be the cause of
increasing incidences of illnesses. So, they recommended going
back to the natural way of producing food. Many farmers gave up using
pesticides and fertilizers and started cultivating their land in the natural
way their fathers and grandfathers did. These naturally-grown food-items
- grains, pulses, fruits and vegetables - were sold in one corner of the
supermarkets, labeled as 'Health Food'. Thus was born the idea
of health food shops, which, in western countries, have
now grown into gigantic supermarkets themselves.
In the range of shops and stores selling
health food and products, we are a small store in the best sense of the
term. Each customer who comes to our store is an individual, not a consumer.
We treat them as we would a friend, a fellow traveler in the journey to
natural health. |
